"If you've never been to the forested fringe of San Francisco, you might want to take a little trip out to the RCH Lake Merced Club. Set on five and a half wooded acres, a stone's throw from Lake Merced, this quiet, relaxed facility is a refreshing place for wedding receptions and private parties.

The Main Hall is a very large room, made light and airy by roofline windows all around the perimeter, a wall of glass overlooking the lake, and a bank of skylights along the lake side. A high, open beamed ceiling only increases the feeling of spaciousness. In winter and on cool summer evenings when the fog rolls in from the ocean, a blazing fire adds warmth and intimacy to the space.

Thanks to its size and openness, the Hall can be set up in a variety of ways. During wedding receptions, couples often put the head table on the lake side of the room, where they have the best view of Lake Merced through a grove of eucalyptus trees. A raised, hardwood stage is the perfect spot for the band, and a pulldown screen, piano, and an excellent sound and lighting system give you plenty of options for creative enterainment ("this is your life" movies of the bride and groom are always a hit!)

The hall is also a favorite for meetings, private parties and other functions. During very large events, such as fund raisers, crab feeds and casino nights, it's frequently used in conjunction with the adjacent auditorium. Guests usually gather in the auditorium for the banquet, games or other activities, then flow into the Hall for dancing and mixing. Additional rooms in the complex are available for smaller meetings.

Everyone who hosts an event here appreciates the easy access, abundance of free parking and, of course, the trees all around. There is one more perk, however: the satisfaction of knowing that all funds acquired from rentals are funneled back into wonderful programs that RCH runs for children and adults with disabilities. So, go ahead and have your reception, your gala or your seminar--while you're having the time of your life, you'll also be making an important contribution to the community."
